Default Help Pls - Squaring Sig Somethin Extra Tail

Having a heck of a time squaring the horizontal stab / vertical stab on a SIG SOMETHIN' EXTRA ARF. It comes with the four braces. All four braces were of equal lengths, yet when I installed them, the stab isn't level. Anyone have a good "Trick" they can suggest?

Thanks.
Frank

I'm not sure that the braces should all be the same length. If i recall correctly, when i built mine, i made four distinct braces and measured each one for a specific corner. But i built the kit and the braces were not pre-made.

Thanks. Disappointing that we can't find a better way to engineer this stuff.

I`m at the same point on mine. When I bent the angle on the plastic piece , it broke , so I`m going to build my own withot any plastic pieces ,.
I must say , for my first Sig ARF , it s put together better than any other ARF I own.

Concur, overall it's good. There's just a couple places where it could be so much better with just a little extra effort. I'm allowing myself to be a little more critical given the price...a lot more than most 45 size ARFs.

As you assemble, watch out for the 4-40 nylon bolt. It torques easily, and it's easy for your screwdriver to slip out and nick the covering. I'll probably replace mine with a metal one. BTW, despite the challenges, I flew mine last weekend and it's really nice. Spent most of the time at 1/2 to 3/4 power (Supertigre GS45 ABC) doing nice graceful aerobatics.

I've had both the SSE ARF and built one from a kit. The factory tail brace connectors in the ARF broke if I remember right. I think I ended up using some pieces of 2-56 pushrod. I screwed half a metal clevis on the threaded end and soldered another one at the other. I was able to make the braces just the right length that way. You could also thread both ends of the rod once you determine the exact length. That way you could even use a modified plastic clevis.
