Default Solartex weight

I'm thinking of recovering a plane in Solartex. It's a .60-size (59" WS) 3d plane, so weight is everything. I need to know how much heavier Solartex (or Worldtex) is than Ultracote. If I did this I'd seal with a clearcote of some kind. One thin coat.

Thanks!

When I want a light iron-on covering, I use this.

Over on the Wattflyer site somebody compiled a huge listing of covering materials and their weights on a per-square-foot basis.
[link]http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-10443.html[/link]

The list says Ultracote is about 6.5 grams per square foot (how's that for a weird mix of units!)

Worldtex is listed at 13.3 grams per square foot!
Solartex is listed at roughly 8.4 grams per square foot.

So I'd stay away from Worldtex if I were you. SIG Koverall looks like a decent fabric material although you have to dope it, but if you want just iron-on then Solartex is the one to use. Polyester fabric will always be heavier than a film covering, but if you want really light, try for some real silk. Pricey and needs doping but you can get really fine silk from lots of places.

Got it and thanks! Looks like I'm staying with Ultracote for my 3d planes.
