Default I Need a New Digital Scale .... Any Suggestions

Well my old trusted digital scale died...RIP. Of course that company is now out of buisness [:@]

I need a new accurate digital building scale for planes in the 2 - 10# size.

Any suggestions on manufacturers / models / sources would be greatly appreciated

I second the motion. What does everyone use for weighing the finished product when building?

LSF2298,

That one looks sweet and the price is sweet too! Over the years I have purchased several items from Harbor Freight and have been satisifed.

Is this scale also sensitive enough to grade sheet balsa ?

regards,
Bill

I have a 25# x 1.0 oz. hanging fish scale that I love. For lighter and more accurate measurements, I use a digital kitchen scale - 1# x 0.1 oz/454 x 0.1 grams. Postage scales are good and extremely accurate, too. One of the MOST accurate and sensitive scales is still the triple-beam sliding balance. It only measures small weights, but it will grade balsa easily.

Hey, that's alright! I've never bought one because all that I looked at were expensive!

How long have you had yours? Any troubles? Does it come with an AC adapter? (probly not for $20)

I've been thinking of getting a scale too, I found these http://www.radicalrc.com/shop/?shop=...18&cart=803868 at Radical RC. Anybody have one of these and care to comment?

Well, it will measure in GRAMS up to a total of 5000 grams so I think that is good enough for grading balsa. And it does not come with an AC adapter but you can use a 6 Volt one if you have. It uses 4 AA batteries and I have been using it for over a year now without changing. If you ship anything by USPS Priority Mail using the Web, it's great for that also. It has an auto shut off feature so the batteries last a pretty good while. It also has the TARE feature so you can set a container on it and then zero the scale to only measure the contents. Good luck!

My Ohaus works great too, 20 plus years of building, and never needs batteries. It is so sensitive that you can see the weight change as glue drys (solvent based glues).
