Default Y Harness or Channel Mixing

I have a JR 7202 and I am building a Skybolt ARF. What is the usual preference when using two Aileron Servos. A "Y" harness or channel mixing?

Any input greatly appreciated

Here is almost the exact same question over at the beginners forum that will probably answer your question.

One main advantage of using two channels vs a y-harness is control surface initial set-up. With a y-harness you must mechanically position your neutral position for each aileron. With channel mixing, as you call it, your can use the subtrim function for each channel to make those last small adjustments to neutralize each aileron.

I like the sub trim feature, I guess I will have to make a decision before I build the wing.

If I was you I would put each in a seperate channel. It really can't hurt anything and if you want to do some mixing down the road then you have the option.

The other advantage is that you dont have to buy a Y harness.

Personally, I use a "Y" cord whenever possible - Why complicate things?

It's no harder to set up - so what if you have to adjust linkages? The nice thing is, if you ever switch radios, it's ready to go. There's no need to reprogram anything.

And with a Skybolt, you're certainly not going to use flaps or flapperons.

Keep it simple.
