Default Paint buffers / polishers

Does anyone buff/polish their painted airplanes?

I'm looking at this unit as a small, lightweight, buffer for my planes.

Just curious if anyone uses one, and any advice, comments on the one linked below.

When I need to buff/polish (rare ), I do it by hand. It is easier to control the amount of pressure AND the speed by hand than with a machine.

Try going to an automotive paint store like Sherwin Williams. They have 1500 and 2000 grit liquid compound to really bring the shine out. I use it. Ron

3M Micro Fine polishing compound followed up with a good liquid or paste wax. Keep it wet when using the compound. Wow!

I know this about polishing paint, but what about shrink films? Pledge or paste wax or anything? try to shine it up, and maybe make it easier to clean between sessions. Anybody use anything ?

Campy, I've done it by hand, thats why I'm looking at powered units

I build/paint at least 5 planes annually, this was my latest, but I want the surface to be glass smooth (Helps for speed with my racers). That takes a lot of elow grease and want somthing a little easier.

Just curious if anyone is used this model, or anything similar. I don't think it would be adequate for a full sized car, boat, etc...

But for a 40 sized plane??

Maybe...

djr,

I've used regular liquid car wax on Ultracote. Does help but it wears off relatively quick.
