Balancing a plane where CG is unknown
Folks, I need help on balancing my plane. I bought a little Midget Mustang at the swap meet 2 weeks ago for $15. Cool looking plane about 40 inch W/S with no information on the plane from the seller. Now that I have it almost complete, I need to balance it but have no clue where to start, as the CG is unknown. I did hear about a method where you take the wing and measure it to come up with a location of the CG but have no clue what its called or how to get information on it. So, I am turning to the RCU gurus for some help on how to balance a plane where the CG is unknown.
Thanks in advance…

Hosam,
Check out this page. Plug in the right measurements, and it'll tell you what you need to know.

according to my aeronautical engineer uncle a 1/4 chord is a good starting point.

The above is true to some extent. However, on a tapered or swept wing which chord is used? On any wing the chord line along which the CG is positioned is called the "Mean Aerodynamic Chord'. Use the attached diagram to determine the MAC.
