Default Prop Repair

Anyone know if it possible to repair a prop? I have a 16x8(Wood) on my funtana and it took a rock nick during power up, about 1/8" or so. I sanded it out and sanded the other side to match. should i just trash it or does it look like it might work? The pics are a bit fuzzy, but you get the idea. Just trying to save a $10 prop that never flew.

IMO, I would trash it. It has lost too much of it's airfoil and blade area. it will never perform even close to the same.[]

You have lost performance

Flying like this COULD destroy the plane (trow and balde and it wont take long to shack the rest of your plane apart) and god forbid you throw a blade on the ground :| not cool

For your safety as well as the safety of your fellow flyers, toss it. Good Luck, Dave

Throw at the cat? Did you torture cats as a child? I have read that that can lead to becoming a serial killer

I'll 2nd that!

The nick could be "dressed" but it has to be done perfectly. Then you have to balance the prop to make up for what was removed on the other blade. For $10.00 it's not worth the effort or a nagging question about how well it would last or perform.

Don't like cats? Ever try getting the dog to catch mice and gophers? They might get one a year where the cat and and will nail a few a day. The dog just lays wherever you like to sit the most, drools all over your pillow, hates to get up, and only eats if you remember to feed it. A dog doesn't "clean up" after he does a "potty". The stuff just lays there out in the open waiting for you to step in it. Dogs are best for making noise when a stranger appears. Loyal creatures but rather useless compared to a cat. They make up for that with their exuberance. Cats don't have to be walked. They know where they live, always come back, go hunting for food if hungry, and get plenty of exercise by themslves when left alone.

I have a bunch of both species

Do they happen to "hide" it in sand boxes? if so might explain why my mom was horrified when i brought her play doe (that i found in the sand box) and dropped it on the table when I was younger [&:]

If you run that prop you'll fry your engine i garrantte it 100%. Through out the bearings and everything else to boot. IMHO

Be sure to turn it into 2 paint stirrers (saw it in half) before someone is tempted to use it on a plane!

Not very good for 5 gallon buckets when you cut them in half. A 22" prop barely reaches the bottm while leaving something to hang on to.

As long as the prop is balanced, I would have no problem running it. It most likely won't have the same performance as an unmodified prop, but saying it will wreck your motor / plane is just not true.
