Default New Magnum 91 - What Plane?

I got a new Magnum 91 FS today and now I need a plane to stick it in? Any suggestions? I'm currently building a TF P-47 Gold Edition but I don't think the Magnum 91 has enough get up and go. What do you guys think.

Pretty much any 60 size plane will do. The Magnum isn't any giant power house but they work quite well for what they were intended for. They just don't seem to last as long as the OS or Saitos but you can't beat the prices.

I wasn't looking to get a new engine now, but I got a deal I couldn't let pass. I've been thinking about a Sig 1/5 cub lately. I've had a .20 GP Cub for the last couple of years that I enjoy every time I take it out. Something new always cost more than what I buy. New engine = new plane, New plane = new engine.

Any idea what the finished weight will be on the P47 ?
I have this engine on several planes the heaviest being a 9.5 lb biplane and it is just OK on this plane, I fly at close to full throttle most of the time. Climb rate is good enough but there is not any vertical ability. If you intend to fly the P47 in a P47 warbird manner I think it will be OK up to 9 maybe 9.5 lbs. If the plane comes in at 8 lbs I think you will be a very happy camper unless you expect unlimited vertical. Vertical will be good but probably not unlimited.

Good planes for the engine are 4-Star 60, Super Sportster 60, Astro Hog, Uproar 60, Big Stick 60, Ultra Stick 60 .... there are lots more .... any 60 class plane under 8 lbs is a great match.

Its a good versatile sport engine. I will be starting the same p47 soon. In my research I found lots of folks flying that plane with the magnum and very happy with it. Especially if you plan on monokoting and not going all out with scale detail it will fly fine with that engine.

On mine I am going with a 1.20 4 stroke as most folks say the plane balances better with that engine.

The magnum 91 will go well in any 60 sized sport plane. I had one in a 40 sized 5lb 3d plane and it was a blast, now the engine is in a 10+ pound trainer and its a great fit. I have had the engine for almost 3 years now and have not had a single deadstick with it.

I have a Magnum 91 FS on the nose of a Fliton Edge 540 Freestyle, and its a great matchup.

My dad has one on a TF corsair and I have one on a Hanger 9 P-51, they both fly well, we won't out run anybody, and you won't do a vertical climb out of sight. But I can do rolls from one end of the field to the other and large loops, and split S's and figure eights...typical sport stuff. Looks really good until the guy with a YS 110 power Hanger 9 takes off, then I look like I'm sitting still!

Austin, you are prone to understatement. Apples and footballs. I pulled my YS 1.10 out of my old 60 size Kaos and installed an OS .91 SF. These two engines aren't even in the same zip code!

I agree, its a very good fit for a 60 sized warbird up to 9lbs.
