Can you get to a local Home Depot type store and cut your own?

Here is a source. Lot's of other good stuff also. Alum, Steel tubing, sheet metal etc. Prices are good and they ship fast.

Ive used basswood for spars in a number of scratch builds including
an Ultra Sport 60 and a 40 size Kaos with great results.

Just another option to consider.

Here you go.

Aircraft Spruce Their prices are decent, fast shipping and VERY GOOD QUALITY WOOD.

Look at the Cap Strips for what you will be needing.

If you have a lumber yard near you where they let you select your own boards, you will find that there is a lot of white pine that is clear, straight grained and pitch free which is almost as good as spruce if you have a table saw and can cut your own. True, more bad knotty pine than good but there is some good stuff there if you are allowed to sort through it. I have cut lots of it that is better than the spuce you buy already cut to size and it is stronger than bass wood.
