the pdp is a mod to give a bit more power to the engine. i dont know any of the specs, or for sure who did the mod (possible clarence lee) i beleave i have seen this mod done on HB, HP, and K&B. i could be wrong its been close to 20 years since i heard much about it. but i do have 2 engines still that are pdp and wouldnt give em up

Hirtenberger or HB as indicated by TFF and yes the PDP on the side of the mount lug stood for Perry Directional Porting as already indicated.

HB and HP are both now owned by RJL/Mecoa. One was made in Austria and the other in Germany and even the case logos are very similar, easy to confuse.

Well if its in good shape there is no reason not to use it. Good strong runners even among more modern *****ies, remember this is an early form of *****ie. Would do well on any airplane intended for sixty sized engines.

A far as it being worth a fortune as some sort of antique and you making a big hit with it then no that is not going to happen. Its just a good but common engine from a few years back.
