Default ASP .61 two stroke... OK or junk...?

I got an ASP .61 two stroke with a plane I bought, neither are used ( both new.) Unsure of ASP .61 is it worth a try or switch to a name brand with reliable background like OS?

My experience with ASP has been a real crap shoot. Some are OK, others are not.

I have an older ASP .61. It is about 10 yeras old or so. The first carb on it had such a rough slot cut in it that the throttle would stick. I sent th carb back and they sent a new one that is machined much better. It is a good running engine. With the stock muffler it is in no way a power house but it runs well from idle to full throttle. It pulls a 60 size trainer around the sky very well. I had it in a CG Chipmunk with a pitts muffler and it had average power with a 12X6 and 10% fuel.

Dru.
