Spektrum DX6i Charge HELP ?!?!
Hi Everyone,
Im new to RC Universe, and had a quick question on my new Dx6i Spektrum Transimitter. I put the batteries in the transmitter which came from the box. I plugged the transmitter into its cord and then inserted the cord into my wall mount. When i woke up the next morning, the charge said the same as it did when i put the new batteries in the first time. I recently used that transmitter several times and it works fine. I got the highest Voltage to 6.0 but no higher. I guess my 2 questions are...
1) What is the highest you can charge the battery too ???
2) When does the battery alarm go off when flying. What Voltage ???
Any info might help,
Thanks,
Cole Mayfield

Cole, have you put the battery on a voltmeter that applies a slight load like the Hobbico expanded scale meter or similar? That should tell you about the charge state. It sounds to me like they got charged. The transmitter should have let you know if the battery voltage was low.
If you still aren't 100% confident, you might try cycling them if you have a charger that will do it to see what their capacity is after you take them off the wall charger. If you don't have a cycler, I'd be glad to take the battery and test it for you; I'm sure John L. and others would be too.

The Spectrum only has four cells. If you are getting 6 volts you are 2 tenths ahead of mine. It never shows over 5.8 fully charged. Don't know where the cut off voltage is, but after a day of flying it is never below 5.4 volts.

Thanks Guys,
I talked to John L and he said the highest for sure is 6 Volts and I heard from some other people at the flying
field that said the battery alarm goes off at 4.8 Volts. Thanks for the help,
Cole Mayfield
