Making a Giant Balsa USA Stick Plane
Has anybody ever made a giant (9ft. or so wingspan) Balsa USA Stick Plane? Would like to put 32cc weed whacker engine om this, (cheap) what would you have to do to mount this to the plane? Can the mounts be made at home?
A little more info, we are thinking of using foam for the wings with wooden spars and balsa sheeting and mono covering but staying with the balsa USA stick .40 fuse just blowing it all up to a 9ft. wing span. If anybody has already done this give a shout. We are looking for a slow long flying plane out of this, ya know, something you can sit in a lawn chair and just relax while flying it. And thanks to the guys who answered.
Thanks

Here's an 80" Stik that used a 35cc engine (That is basically a converted weed wacker engine)

It will probably fly if you get the nose long enough to balance it without adding lead, but it will be pretty lethargic. I have flown a stick built from a wrecked stinger 84 inch wing (7foot), it was a whiteknuckle test in smooth even stick technique to get up to altitude. It now has a strong poulan 38 on it and is much nicer to fly...

RE: Making a Giant Balsa USA Stick Plane
Years ago I took the plans for a Balsa USA swizzle Stick and blew them up to a wingspan of 96 inches (8 feet) and flew it with a Super Tiger 90. It was a great flying plane and easy to fly, in fact a friend used it for a trainer and did most of his learning to fly with it.
