I flew mine with a Magnum 52 fs. Takes a little bit of runway to get it airborne, when flying from grass, but cruises at 1/2 throttle in the air. Have to fly on the wing, not on the motor.

I fly mine with an Evolution 52 and it flies wonderfully well. Its not a speed demon by any stretch. Its just a Piper Cub. The epitamy of basic flight. Fun to watch fun to fly.

I have a Saitio .56 on mine, flys great lots of power for a cub. I think the saito .56 is perfect for the cub, sounds great. Your .52 2 cycle should be fine, about the same power as the .56. Nice flying plane, my worse problem was keeping it on the ground after touch down, if I gave it even a little too much up elevater on landings it would jump back into the air. I turned the ailerons into spoilerons to kill the lift for landings, worked great.

I had a early version of the H9 80" cub with a Saito 50 engine for several years

It will fly scale and your engine choice will work just fine... I second what Norm Nestie said

I sold my H9 Cub without an engine or radio about 3 yrs ago. The guy had been building all his life. He put a OS 46FX in the Cub and he liked flying around slow. The 46FX would load up and be slow to go back to a higher speed. He's frugal in his model airplane ventures and then installed a OS 40 LA in the Cub. He still has the LA in the Cub. He liked that.

I had a OS 40 LA and they are a very good engine. I like my Evolutions and they too like to load up on you if you don't use your throttle. But I know this and I throttle up often, still you can't beat the price for a Evolution motor.

In my Hanger 9 .40 Cub I had the Evolution .46 and it worked very well. Matter in fact, when Hanger 9 came out with the Hanger 9 .40 Cub PnP... it came with the .46NX or NT Evolution Engine in it.

I liked my Cub so much I might buy another one to replace my crashed one. I just have to remember not to fly on very windy days. [:@]

Due to the large wing and light wing loading versus the profile of the Cub makes it a hand full on gusty days

Don't remind me... I learned that from the School of Hard Knocks. Matter in fact,I still take night classes there from time to time.

Just maidened my H9 Cub today with a Magnum 52 FS. Flew great. A little too fast for scale appearance at full throttle, but at 1/2 throttle or below it looked really nice. Plenty of power for short take offs.

You said all the right words

That's the way the Hanger Nine Cub is.
