RE: Best 4S engine for 13.5" 3-blade prop
my saito 72 runs a 13x4w and was slated to run a 13x6. probably the saito 82 would handle that size prop just fine and like someone said 13.5 X what? i think the top range of props was a 14x4 on my 72 according to the saito listings on horizon.
ps i missed that it said 3 bladed prop :P

Joe,
We're neighbors!
Too large an engine for this twin engine airplane at 80".
Three blade is scale.
Smaller YS?
What about the older OS 80 two stroke that had two plugs?

There are very few engines that will swing a scale prop. And very few pilots who would USE a scale prop for that very reason.
If you can't live without a scale-sized prop. about your only hope is using the RCV engines. They gear-down the RPM 2:1

Rule of thumb that I always used was if a engine took a certain size two bladed prop & you went to a three blade you dropped it one inch in diameter & one pitch size . If a engine uses a 14X6 then you would use a 13X5. Just figure the size engine you want from that . Max H.

Thank you for all your help.
Can we please talk about props? I have never used a three blade prop, nor have I ever purchased one.
I would like one with rounded ends that would resemble the scale prop. Anything available? Supplier?
