RE: Smallest gas engine
Troy Built Models has a 17cc engine.

I've been eyeing this one every since I saw it at Joe Nall. And at $149 I'm real tempted to pick one up.

RE: Smallest gas engine
I have one in a TF P-47 ARF. Took a lot of fooling with to get it to run reasonably well. Endless twiddling with the carb would not eliminate a "poping at top end. Finally advanced the ignition about 5 degrees (needed a Dremel) and things smoothed out. However, now if the engine is snapped to idle it will die. Flies the plane well when used carefully. Makes 7900 RPM with an APC 15-8.

I still have one of the RCS 1.40 22cc gassers. It produces a lot more power then my old Zenoah 26cc ever did. Great engine except for the rear inducted carb. Talk about not being thought out!! No mater what you do to mount this engine except setting it way forward, the nedles are always directly under [inside] the fire wall.
The 17 is a side mounted carb so that can be a big help! The price is under half the price I paid for the 1.40 too. Maybe the China thing has something to do with that??
Ken, if you get one let us know what you think. Other then carb adjustments I love the 1.40.

One of the guys I fly with picked up a 15cc, it has been bench run but not in a plane yet. I think he picked it up from Hobby King when he ordered a couple of the DLE 20s. It's been a few weeks sense we spoke about it but I recall everyone was impressed with the RPM he got with the prop being used. If you need any info on it I can email him and ask.
