Default Replace batteries or the whole radio

I have an 11-yr old JR radio which works fine but needs new batteries (TX and RX). Should I spend $50-100 on new batteries or just buy a new radio? I just fly occasionally so I don't need a feature-loaded system and have found several in the $135-175 range that would work for me.
I'd appreciate your input.

If it were me, I guess I would have to figure in how much I liked that particular radio, and if it had all the features that I needed...among other things.

If you like the radio and it does what you want/need...then 50 bucks for batteries would seem like a worth while investment. 30 for a new Tx. NiCd and 20 for the Rx. pack...std. 700 mah NiCds do the job just fine IMO, unless you're operating a lot of servos. (or high torque, etc. )

New radios do so much more that it's a good buy. That said, you don't have to spend $100 on new transmitter and reciever batteries just to get something usable. Check out www.hangtimes.com.

I love this little radio. It has ATV, dual rates, Expo, and mixing. All for a few bucks more than the batteries alone.

If you really love your radio buy a lipo pack from Hobbycity for less than $20 bucks. This assumes you have a lipo charger.
