Default Field Strength Meter

Several club members have been suspicious of occasional RF interference at the field in the 72 Mhz. band. This is a result of several members in the last few months have crashed unexpectedly in the same general area of the fly zone. IMO it might be helpful to use a field strength meter to determine if any interfering signals are present and at what signal strength. Having said that, if anyone (or club) has any experience or recommendations relating to such a meter would be appreciated. Please note, we do have the "Hobbico Frequency Checker". While it does indicate the presence of a RF signal, it doesn't show the signal strength.

Any comments would be helpful.

Thanks,

DaveB

You need a spectrum analyzer - not a field strength meter. Indeed, call your District AMA VP to see if you can get a loan.
