6 volts
Buying a U can Do 61, which is cheaper, going to 6 volts or buying a hundred dollars worth of servos? Is going to 6 volts as easy as buying a battery and plugging it in?

RE: 6 volts
For me it is. But then again I fly Airtronics. I had some Cirrus CS-601 servos and Cirrus CS-702 servos in my Formula 3D. They work at 6v without any problems.

RE: 6 volts
There are only a select few servos that are not suggested to run on 6 volts. I have one 4.8v battery left over from when I started out, but everything from now on will run at 6 volts (or more).
Yes, it is as easy as buying a 6V battery and plugging it in.
I have had great luck/success with the Hobbico Hydrimax 6V 2000mah batteries. Should be about $20-$25

RE: 6 volts
Ok,funny I should find this post,as I have a similar question about 6v.As said, almost all servos are OK with 6v.Now,as far as regulators go,I have seen them anywhere from 20 bucks to 80 or so for adjustable. Now this is my question,if I am going to use it in a sailplane,do I need to buy a regulator,or can I just run one of my 7 dollar speed controlls with bec?It weighs about the same as the common sense 20 dollar regulator. It makes sense to me.

RE: 6 volts
Regulators are used for 7.4V LiPo or Li Ion packs. Not 6V Nimh. To go to 6V just buy a pack and plug it in. You will need slightly more battery capacity than you would at 4.8V, but not too much more (20% more would be enough).
If you are running LiPo's: ESC Bec's are usually pretty cruddy. The castle CCBEC is a machine and weighs practically nothing. I used one of those on my 50cc Cap with 6 digital, high performance servos, and it never blinked. Believe me, I thoroughly tested it.
