Default Flew the maiden on my hog bipe!! wrong engine!!!

Hello, I just flew the maiden on my hog bipe today! the cg was perfect, and so was everything else. I had a 65 2 stroke os max. It has way to much drag, and is not a powerful enough engine. Which engine would be the best next step up? the os max 75 stroke, the 91 os 2 stroke, and a 115 saito?

id put a 180 or 150 Satio, but 125a Saito would due. I overpower every plane because you can always throttle back

I forgot to mention, i fiberglassed the fuselage, and it weighs more then the plans say. Its 10 pounds.

Due to the weight, I would try a Saito 100 or OS 110 four stroke engine. Both can swing larger props and have more power than the currently installed engine. The OS 91 two stroke would also work if you have one. The Saito 100 is probably the lightest weight of the 3 engines.

That would definitely put out the needed power. Just check your ground clearance for the larger prop for that engine.

So it weighs about 10.2 pounds, has alot of drag, the cg was way off. The saito 115, 125 should be plenty of power for aerobatic flying, sport flying, all that kinda stuff?

My friend was given a nice barely flown one that had a OS .91F on it originaly; he did not know the difference at the time and bought a OS.91 2 stroke. WOW with power. The bad is the controls will flutter. He already had to change the control horns because of the abuse. I think your biggest problem is weight; it is a clean airframe that acts more like a monoplane. I have overshot the runway a couple of times because it wont slow up like I expected.

At one point in time I was flying from three different fields and the Hog was the number one bipe being flown at the time. Most of them were flown with the OS .91 FS engine. At the weight you are quoting the 1.15 or 1.25 would be a good choice. Also give some thought to looking at the YS brand of engines if you are buying new. You can shift the tank location pretty much anyplace you have room plus the added power is a big factor. Forget any crap about having to run high nitro fuels with them you have heard, 15% is just fine and they are very user friendly. Just something to think about. What would ever make you think a little .65 is going to fly a 10 pound plane and allow you to do stunts??

Changing subject a little, at that weight I would say you should plan to land with good airspeed and some power or you will be practicing stall and spin recovery on final approach.
