Default Am I right?

Up until now I have had an excellent experience with buying/selling on RCU...up until now. I recently made an offer on a Futaba 10C and my offer was accepted. When I told the guy I would be sending payment just three days later, he pulled the radio and rejected my offer. I realize immediate payment is preferred but I was in the midst of squaring away a sale of my own. I tried contacting the guy later and have yet to get a reply. It is people like this who ruin theusually friendly environment I've come to know on this site. In the past I've had guys bend over backwards to be helpful and I would do the same. Am I right?

I think if I sold something and stated immediate payment is preferred and then the buyer said they would pay in 3 days I may be inclined to do the same thing sorry. To me, immediate means right away - like 1 day max.
If, however, nothing was stated about when the payment is expected then I would probably feel the same as you.

All that was stated was that PayPal was the preferred payment...that's it.

There are a lot of people on this site. Some are bound to be nicer than others.

I wouldn't get upset about it.  Until the money changes hands, for all practical purposes the item is his to do with as desired.  That includes revoking his acceptance of your offer.

I never make an offer on something unless I can pay for it right then.  Long-distance deals with individuals have too much uncertainty involved in them as it is.  Communicate well, pay promptly, ship promptly, and everything goes so much smoother.

It's not as though there aren't other 10Cs out there.  Live and learn, and perhaps only buy from retailers if this really upsets you.

Apparently so...I mean I could understand if someone was going to hold payment for a week or so or ,if like mentioned above, the seller stated that immediate payment was preferred.  Then it could be understandable.  But I personally would have no problem with waiting 3 days.  It's not like the money isn't coming...

I see what you're saying. I theoretically could have payed right then, but wanted to get the sale I was conducting out of the way first. The only part that got me was that the deal on it was one of those you very rarely see. I also think SOME kind of correspondence would have been in order rather than just a rejection and no reply as to why.

If it is any consolation, I did offer for the full asking amount which was what puzzled me even more

If by "one of those you very rarely see" you mean that it was priced far under market value, perhaps somebody clued him in?  Deals like that are great, so long as both parties understand that it's being sold under market value.

I s'pose that's a possibility.  Tower wanted $200 more for the same exact thing.

You might very well have gotten lucky that you didn't send the money.  If the guy didn't communicate at all and was selling something at such a discount, it seems a little shady.

Sounds like the guy needed the money immediately, and since he was selling it at such a low price, he knew there would be somebody who would snap it up and pay immediately. Had nothing to do with you personally. He just needed the money in his hands right now.

Ummm......go to Wal-Mart and get some groceries. Tell the checker you'll be paying for them in a few days.

JollyPopper- Yeah I guess your right.

K-Bob- I consider that not even a valid comparison. Whether it's RCU or eBay or any other marketing site, not always is payment sent upon winning the item. With the things I've soldI don't get an email saying the money is on its way untilmaybe the next day, more often notuntil 2 days later. I don't have any problem with it.

Lane,
It takes 5 minutes to do a PayPal payment.
I think you are unreasonable to expect him to wait 3 days.
You could have paid him in the amount of time you took to sent the e-mail.
However, I also think his actions were unreasonable since you did contact him.
Learn from the situation and better luck next time.

After checking my voicemail, turns out he didreply. "I ask that you please stop calling this number. Thank you." Didn't even answer my question. I called twice simply asking if my e-mail had been received...I hope there are not many sellers like this guy.

is this the radio you were trying to buy?

you may have gotten lucky.......last post was in 2005

he is suspicisous to me if you can't mail the money as he doesn't want anyone to know his address if this is indeed the seller you are talking about.
he also has 0 feedback and the deal he is offering looks too good to be true......10C Tx and 4 Rx's for only 550.00?

lane,
I would have put the comment will pay in 3 days with paypal in the comment section on the offer page.I have done it in the past to be up front with the seller and sometimes the offer is accepted and sometimes not.
