Default SOLARTEX COVERING

I am in the process of covering a plane with Solartex and was wondering
can you use dope over it, I want to paint a checker board pattern on the fuselage
and then clear the whole plane with an automotive clear.

Thanks,

Bill D.

yes but it will bleed under the tape unles you can fill the weave.sometimes a coat of clear along the tape edge will prevent it.

Depends on the way you are going to paint. Masking and using an air brush is light enough so it doesn't bleed. Several light coats will do it. ST takes to pain very well.

On second thoughts I have some white & black PPG base coat that I
can use to do the checkerboard with, I will brush a very thin line of clear
on the masking tape to seal the edge so that I won't have any bleed.
Then airbrush the black and white on.

Thanks for the replys

be careful removing the tape use a low tack tape sometimes the new paint pulls off with the tape.
