Bummed up aileron torque rod thread on strip aileron.
I have a Tower Kaos wing with a bummed up aileron torque rod thread. Wish they installed the little plasticclevis onto thetorque rod beforeinstalling it into the wing at the factory. The torque rod has aM3x0.5 thread (It wouid have to be metric). First option would be to rethread the wire, but a tap die is $35.00. Might as well buy a new wing. Had the same problem on the Avistar, justrecutit with a 6-32 thread die. Looked a mess but it worked. Any other suggestions?

How about switching to something like this?
http://www.sigmfg.com/cgi-bin/dpsmar...FV4.html?E+Sig
or even use these the ones for the 2-56 threads
http://www.sigmfg.com/cgi-bin/dpsmar...FV4.html?E+Sig
Sig's shipping would be the limiting factor. But you might find them in a local hobby shop or else put together a larger order from Sig.

Ya know this shouldn't be this difficult!
Go to Sig's website -
Then at the upper left part of the opening page click on "Product Code Search"
then enter DUB103 then on info to get a picture. This must be a Dubro product that could be obtained at many outlets.
The other is a Sig product SIGSH659 then on info to get a picture.
These are nylon aileron control horns for a much smaller torque rod. My thoughts were if his threads were screwed up going to a smaller size might solve his problem.
Either of these would certainly beat the crap out of trying to change the torque rod in a BARF er I mean ARF.
And oh by the way Sig's a great company to do business with but their web site sucks!

Thanks, I picked up a set of the dubro aileron connectors at the LHS. These should do the trick. If I had known that K&S had an expensive M3X0.5 Thread die I would have purchased that. I actually order some servo screws Tuesday from Great Hobbies and they had the K&S thread die in stock. Go figure.

If they don't work.......Just grind the sides of the rods flat at the top and drill a hole through it. Then just use a metal clevis to go through the hole and thread a rod into it to attach it to the servo arm. You will loose the adjustment this way, but some of that can be made up in the radio or servo arm.

I chased threads with 6-32 NC Hanson thread die. It looks a little messy but it works. I can thread the horn bracket on to the strip aileron linkage.
