Thanx. Will pick some up on my next HS trip.

RE: Glowplug burnout
I wonder if you got a batch of defective plugs.
My plugs last a long, long time, and I am not the best engine tuner. I'm sure I have had lean runs. |
RE: Glowplug burnout
Choice of plug is irrelevant when you are running it lean.

Any new update on this?

RE: Glowplug burnout
So far so good. Went with an 8 and richened it up until I could see just a little smoke out of the exhaust. Flew four flights today and before putting it up, Ipulled the plug and looks good. Guess time will tell. I wont be able to fly again until this weekend so cross your fingers that all goes well. BTW, thanx for asking.

RE: Glowplug burnout
all the OS 40 to 60 size engines at my LHS #6 plug in the box with the engine. The owner tells me this is the running in plug because initial settings are rich and the #6 fires well under very rich conditions. They do burn out quickly but he reckons you should be able to get a full gallon through the engine before that plug will need replacing.I think he is right because I got a gallon through an OS 46Ax before the plug burned out. Its easy tosee a burned out plug, the platinum coil looks white. Replaced it with a #7 and the engine hums along nicely. Have around 25 flights on it now.
