Thrust Line?

What is the thrust line?

Should that be the point on the firewall where the prop is centered? or am I missing somthing?

Thanks for any info!

The "thrust line" is the "imaginary" line at 90 degrees to the arc of the prop. If the prop has 2 degrees of right thrust, and down thrust then the thrust line would be 2 degrees off from the 90 degree in both directions. Does this help?

Thrust Line?

So when the manual says, the thrust line is at 7/8 inch below the firewall sides, I should put the center of the prop at 7/8" below the firewall sides. Is that the idea?

Hmmmmmm, that sounds a little strange, for the thrust line to be below the firewall sides. That would mean you'd have to hang the engine on a skyhook.
What exactly are you building?
Please, a little more info.
Generally, the engine goes ON the firewall, with a couple of degrees of right, and down thrust.

Opps sorry... 7/8" from the TOP of the firewall.

:)

Alrighty then

That's more like it. ;)

Yes this is where you want the center of the engine's crankshaft to be. Make a mark 7/8" from the top, and that's where the center of the prop shaft will go. They should also tell you to mount it with some right thrust, and more than likely some down thrust-more so for high wingers.

Thrust Line?

Thanks, I've been doing this a LONG time now, and never paid much attention, I thought that's the way it was supposed to be, but one of the guys at the field was telling me something a little different, so I said, I'll go out to RCUNIVERSE and just make sure!!

Thanks for backing me up!!

RCUNIVERSE ROCKS!
