Problems with HiTec Optima 6 Receivers
I have an Aurora 9 Transmitter. I recently purchased a 3-pack of the Optima 6 receivers. One was good, and the other two will not link properly. Before I discovered that there was an issue with the other two receivers, I bought another 3-pack. None of these want to link properly. I bought an Optima 6 from my local hobby shop, and it would not link properly either. I have a Optima 7 and an Optima 6 that is just fine. I sent the five recievers in question back to HiTec today. I love HiTec products. Their products have been good to me over the many years that I've been in this hobby, that is why when I decided to move to 2.4 GHz, I went with HiTec. The aircraft that I had issues with these receivers (BTW - more than one), I converted back to 72 MHz recievers (Hitec) and do not have any issues with them.
I was wondering, is anyone else seeing issues with the Hitec Optima 6 Receivers? Thanks! RE: Problems with HiTec Optima 6 Receivers
Just a thought, but your problem might be with the Spectra 2.4Ghz module and not the receivers. Here's why:
I have only had my Aurora for 1 week now, so I do not have extensive experience with the Hitec kit. But this week has been very eventful and it might be of interest to you!! The Tx came with an Optima 7 in the box and I also bought a new Optima 6 at the same time. I was finding that my Aurora was not linking prperly with both of the Rx's. They appeared to link OK initially, but then on subsequent switch-ons, I would only get them talking to each other about 60% of the time! On the 40% where the connection was poor I kept getting 'jittery' and 'wig-wagging' servos. I took the unit and Rx's back to the shop and after phoning Hitec service department for advice, we swapped the Spectra 2.4Ghz module with a new one. It cured the problem and I now have a perfect link and rock solid connection each and every time. Although I'm sure it could happen, I can't imagine there being a fault with so many receivers. Hope this helps. |
RE: Problems with HiTec Optima 6 Receivers
I also bought a three-pack of opyima 6's. They all bound quick.
I use a optic 6 with module aprox. six mo. old. The recv's are three weeks old. My problem is I don't know where to mount the antenna. Matt |
RE: Problems with HiTec Optima 6 Receivers
I find the long antenna to be a bit problematic too! I ended up glueing an additional piece of balsa in the fuselage just to mount the BODA!

Thanks Easyjetrider
I'll glue in a lenght of 1/4" doll-rod for an antenna mount. I'm going to put this 4.2 stuff in a foamy untill I trust it. I did about six "switch-ons" with each rec.. All OK. Matt |
RE: Problems with HiTec Optima 6 Receivers
The strange thing is that I do not experience any issues with the models that I have on aircraft 1 & 2 positions in the transmitter (though I did have re-link my No. 1 aircraft this past weekend). I went ahead and shipped my transmitter back as well today.
