switch compartment
I am finishing up a TF P-47 and Icut out 2 compartment in the lower part of the fuselage in front of the wing. Iwill be making the covers for them tomorrow but I'm wondering what are good ways to secure a cover like this to the fuselage?Iwould like a way to remove it easily, are there hinges for applications like this or really small really strong magnets that would secure it so it don't fly off in mid flight? thanks Jordan</p> |
RE: switch compartment
I know of a few guys that will use tiny piano hinges and rare earth magnets and they seem to work really well.. in fact, I would say that they would swear by that method... Havent used it myself yet but one day I may get that chance..

RE: switch compartment
Rare earth magnets I have seen used a lot but I don't know what hinges are used. Never use a magnet on a magnet, they really stick too well, one magnet to a steel screw head is plenty.

RE: switch compartment
Where can I order small hinges and rare earth magnets
Thanks Jordan |
RE: switch compartment
You might want to look at Sonictronics. They make some really neat concealed hinges, that I used on a Cessna luggage compartment door for mine.
