RE: Question about Retracts (Corsair Gold Edition Kit)
If you want the absolute best for your Corsair then this is what you want:
http://www.sierragiant.com/prod30.html They are light years ahead of either the Robart or CJM units and are worth every penny. My .02 cents of course. |
RE: Question about Retracts (Corsair Gold Edition Kit)
I would go with these, much simpler, no air lines to worry about leaking

RE: Question about Retracts (Corsair Gold Edition Kit)
The 615s get a lot of bad press, I've used them in a couple planes and they can be made to work just fine,,
I have not used the RS 333, but I do have their actuators in my p-47 and love the "no air" features,, I'd never go back to air unless that was the only option By the time you buy a Servo, Air support kit valve lines etc., A pump??,, you spent close to the same as the E-retracts cost,, it's really a no-brainer IMO |
RE: Question about Retracts (Corsair Gold Edition Kit)
I also agree that if you can avoid air, do so!

RE: Question about Retracts (Corsair Gold Edition Kit)
Thank you for your suggestions :) But I still don't know enough. I see some of these require struts. Correct me if I'm wrong. But this means I need to buy Retracts, Struts and two Axles? What kind of struts do I need? And what are my choices of Axles?
|
RE: Question about Retracts (Corsair Gold Edition Kit)
most struts come with axles, if you go electric retracts, you'll also need struts, a y-harness, and possible servo extensions. magnum rc sells struts also and robart does too, some excamples. with robarts you can cut the strut to lenghth, with lado, you buy what length you need

RE: Question about Retracts (Corsair Gold Edition Kit)
Thank you Ray :)
I noticed that Lado doesn't cost as much as Robart. Does one do a better job then the other? |
RE: Question about Retracts (Corsair Gold Edition Kit)
have not tried the lado struts yet but will, do know the robart struts work great, but drilling and tapping the set screws can be fun

RE: Question about Retracts (Corsair Gold Edition Kit)
If you decide to go with air retracts, defiantly go with the Sierra Giant Scale over the Century Jets. I've owned both and regret getting the Century Jets after I got my first set from Sierra

RE: Question about Retracts (Corsair Gold Edition Kit)
I have the original Lado electrics for the Bonanza/Mentor with Robart strut assemnlies and same for the GP P-47 Gold Edition. They have been flawless and I'll never use air. RC Magnum took over as US distributer when Lado sold out to the current French manufacturer and I've heard only good things about them since.

RE: Question about Retracts (Corsair Gold Edition Kit)
I built the Top Flight Gold P-51. It is the 1/7th scale versus the 1/4. I went with electric retracts as this was my first retracts as well. I probably researched retracts for more than a year. I decided to wait on the scale struts and other parts until I build the 1/4 scale. The 1/7 is kinda like practice for me. My first war bird. If you have built several models I say go for it. If you are new to building you may want to start slow.

RE: Question about Retracts (Corsair Gold Edition Kit)
The combination of watching some youtube videos and with what you guys have said, has convinced me that Electric retracts are the best choice for me. However I'm still concerned about the struts. I currently feel that Robart Struts are over priced. I'm not concerned about my struts looking scale. I just want to know which ones are the most compatible with the Retracts, and which ones are going to hold up the best. I know my plane isn't going to look a 100 percent scale anyways. As far as model building experience goes. We successfully built every plane we tried. Starting with Eagle 2 as our first. The Hog Bipe as our second. The super Chipmunk as our Third. We also have an Extra 300L mostly finished. With the ARFs we've done the Singer 60, U Can Do 3D 60, and the Zlin 526. We also put together two other planes for a friend. I've been flying a Corsair mini foamy.

RE: Question about Retracts (Corsair Gold Edition Kit)
What makes them any better than the Lado ones?
What websites do you guys visit that rates these things? |
RE: Question about Retracts (Corsair Gold Edition Kit)
I just discover these retracts in another thread on RCU but have not tried them nor do I know of any reviews.
