Carl Goldberg mechanical retracts

I am looking for a set of directions for the old (1970's ?) Carl Goldberg mechanical retracts.

Thanks, Bill

you might wanna try the beginners section...way more traffic there... or in the vintage section....... what di you need help with, mech. retracts are pretty straight forward?

Thanks for the reply. I just wanted to see what directions these came with originally, although I think I know what I need to do to hook them up.

I had several sets of these in the day, and can't remember much instructions. They have only 2 moving parts if you include the rotating gear. Just make sure you adjust the linkage to engage the slider on each end, that is the lock, just make sure it engages and basically, that's it.

I flew with many, in their day they where one of the very few retract sets easily available.<div>Having said that, time moved on real quick... CG retracts didn't.</div><div>The oppretive word here is RETRACT. They did... often when you needed it LEAST!</div><div>To be honest... it was more a servo problem than the retract mechanicals.</div><div>If I was to build a 70's pattern plane I'd try and source some. </div><div>Simply for original (not to mention memory) sake.</div>

RE: Carl Goldberg mechanical retracts

OK, thanks for the help.

These retracts were installed in a very old, .60 size, TF P-51A that was passed on to me. The older fellow was getting out of the hobby. I thought about just pinning them with the gear down, but the tinkerer in me would not let go. They are very stiff, probably from lack of use, but the problem for me is that the throw from the servo is not a straight line. I had thought about replacing them with a newer set, but the previous owner did suck a great job of installing these, and I would have to rebuild the wing from scratch. The only photo I have seen is from the original directions, and it shows the push rod bent down at an angle. Before I sheet the wing, I thought I would see if anyone out there had the instruction sheet, or had any knowledge from using these retracts.

Thanks, Bill
