Cycling And Recharging Problem...
 

I have a smart charger. I need to cycle my transmitter battery. Ineed a connector. I've looked at towerhobbies but couldn't find connector that fits this kind of battery pack. Also there is a diod in the transmitter, that is why you can't cycle a battery through it.

I put futaba J- fittings in my tx and tx battery. Have had this set-up for three to four years, works fine.;)

It's been so long I can't recall where I got mine, I think Radio Shack. HT uses the same end as a lot of cell phones. I spliced in several ends on one charger wire and am able to use my charger with most any make of battery. Most radios have the diod in line in the charger and you can't cycle the battery while it's installed. You can charge though.

Or, you could simply extend the tx aerial, switch it on, and leave it until the low level alarm sounds, then recharge. Cycled!

That's how I used to cycle my battery packs.  But a smart charger allows you to see how much mah the battery is actually taking in!

Yep, but if you note the time taken to discharge, it gives a pretty good clue to the state of the batts.

When I cycle transmitter batteries I just left the transmitter on when I left the field.....kept my eye on it on the way home finished the discharge at home then recharged

Splice a futaba connector between the battery and the white plug. Then unplug at the futaba and cycle.

Switch to Lipo tx batteries.

If that is the female end of the plug, then yes that will work. You could also make your own adapter if you'd like. Its very simple.


As far as cycling the tx battery....my futaba has the diode as well. So I would have to pull out the battery to cycle. Considering I only cycle the battery twice a year, its not that big of a deal.


I have the same charger. I love it! Its been great to my nimh tx/rx packs.

This site shows how to bypass TX diodes, not the best idea http://www.siriuselectronics.com/ind...age=page&id=24 but I have done it on several of my transmitters. Why not modify a Hitec RX charge cord by removing the outer shell and the exposed pins should have the correct spacing to plug right into the battery lead just make sure to match polarity.
