Electrical connectors
 

I just bought a Hangar 9 Mustang PTS Mk II. I went to my local hobby store and purchased a VoltWatch, which I've used on other planes. But the Voltwatch has a flange on his connector and all the receptacles don't.

Am I missing something? Still a noobie.

Hey welcome back to the hobby!

Are you talking about a little tab on the side of the 3 pin connector that keeps it from plugging into your receiver right? That's a Futaba "J" plug made to keep you from being able to plug in the connector backwards. Just slice it off and it will work fine.

Are you getting some local instruction with that P51?

Yes, that's what I was referring to. I thought about that surgery but didn't want to risk a bigger issue.

I won't make the initial flight. Someone else will do that. This will be my first low-wing plane and I realize it won't be as safe as my old NexStar. I'm just wanting to fly something different and I've always wanted a Mustang.

Slice it off with a hobby knife. Can finish off with sand paper.

The connectors come off fairly easily - if you mess it up or just want to switch to a universal connector.

Ditch the voltwatch, it won't tell you anything useful. If you're concerned about the battery's condition or how it actually preforms in flight, get one of these http://www.voltmagic.com/ .
