saito 125 or dle 20

ok guys, I have an pulse 125 that has os 91 fs thatI previously had weight and balance problems with. Solved with alot of weight but the os 91 just isn't enough power. Question isI have a saito 125a that is a little damaged from a previous crash, to the tune of 230.00 to fix it,I know this would be enough power but i've also considered putting a dle 20 on this plane also. If you put the dle 20 inwould you invert or just put it upright since i already have a cowl thats cut out for the os 91? let me know what you think saito 125 or dle20 , thanks alot for any suggestions adam

The Pulse 125 is looking for 125 4 stroke, a 120 2 stroke, or a 20CC gasser. In terms of power the 125 4 stroke compaired to the others is the weakest engine.
For economy I'd go with the 20CC gasser with a seperate battery for ignition and an optic kill switch. You can make 2 gallons of gas for under 10 bucks or buy a gallon of 15% glow fuel for 17 bucks. The math says that a 20CC and a 1.20 glow are equal. From what I feel and see the gasser has more get up and go.
All I fly anymore are gassers. Cleaner, no more defueling or running the engine dry. I close the choke and put a stopper in the vent line
But like anything there are trade offs, gassers smell worse in a closed space, and if you use Tygon fuel lines then you need to change them about once a year, they harden.
To solve that I am trying PVC line but the jury is still out on that

Like a number of others I've put a DLE 20 in my Pulse 125 and it's a perfect combination. I went to gas for two main reasons - economy and ease of cleanup. Mine is inverted.

I was running a Saito 125 in my Seagull Yak 54 and for the most part it ran great, smooth and uneventfull. I also bottle fed it Power Master 20/20 fuel at an alarming rate. I decided to yank the motor and run a DLE 20. I was able to sell the Saito used for $250.00 on Ebay. I was suprised to find that the Gasser ran the plane noticably better than the Saito at a much cheaper cost. It is installed inverted wnd runs perfect. The Saito runs much quieter than the DLE but its worth the decible increase.

For the most part this is why I go to gas on anything bigger then my 1.20s. I run the older YS 1.20s and for some reason they don't suck down fuel as bad as most other big glow engines? Plus I can't sell them without loosing a huge pile of money. With the new small 20 and 22cc gas engines on the market I wouldn't buy any 1.20 glow engine today. The gassers are just so much easier, cheaper and cleaner, not to mention how much cheaper they are to operate. If I didn't already have so many 1.20 glows on hand I would have nothing but gassers today.;) It's the price of glow fuel that is going to kill the big glow engines.

I just want to throw my two cents in on inverted or not. To me, the first reason for inverting an engine or leaving it upright, or even side ways or 45, would be cosmetic. What looks good for YOU. Then you have to consider hookups, fuel, throttle etc, where you want the exhaust, lateral balance, the cut outs in your cowl - - - .
But I have been flying RC for over 40 years and All engines glow or gas (even electric, lol ) will run just fine in any orientation. So decide what you want, then do it. The engine will run. I'm sure some may disagree for whatever reason, but I haven't met an engine yet I wouldn't run inverted if I wanted.
