Chinese airplanes!! WTF????
Our hobby has changed a lot through the years.
Altough i'm not that old (38) i remember a time when i was a teen we actually built the planes we flew. And the arf's were just beginning their shy introduction in the market. My homework's been done a spoke to a few oldtimers about where to buy and mostly what to buy???? Kit's???? ***? there is almost none available! So back to the homework again on the web i needed to find a decent high quality product! So Aeroworks came to the rescue, hangar 9, etc And all that extensive research to not buy chinese crappy models...Cause spend less and spend twice is more expensive in the end. So my first Aeroworks arrived at home. OMFGmade in china was written on the box.I was shocked and mostly curious about that! So i found a video on youtube about Rocco Mariani the owner of Aeroworks explaining why his models are built in china.I came to the conclusion that we pay for what we get. Actually when you pay more you get top quality hardware, world class carbon fiber, painted parts that could easily make Chrysler,Ford...turn red. I will always buy American or Canadian. Engines???? Japanese make em pretty good! And those guys have plants here in Canada and usa maybe not in the model industry but there here!! (Toyota,Subaru,Honda that i know of) Gasser??? Desert Aircraft! the 35cc is coming! WOW. That said i feel betterhttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif |
RE: Chinese airplanes!! WTF????
There is a big difference in the ARFs. Most of them are from China or Viet Nam. The big difference is the quality control and aircraft designs. Aeroworks keeps an eye on what they sell. Another good one is Wild Hare. Like AW they aren't the cheapest but they are a lot better in Quality. I haven't seen any of the WH ARFs in a while but the last one I assembled for someone it was very well made.
There are still a lot of good kits to choose from depending on what you are looking for and what size. Just post up what it is and you will get a lot of choices. |
RE: Chinese airplanes!! WTF????
Kit's???? ****? there is almost none available! Balsa USA House of Balsa Sig / Herr Great Planes (check Tower Hobbies) Eureka AK Models Bruce Tharpe Engineering IMP Scale Several others on my short list plus kit cutters who will make you a kit from one of the many plans makers and some innovative places like WOWplanes If you can't find a kit to build, you're not looking very hard. Best wishes, Dave Olson |
RE: Chinese airplanes!! WTF????
Eureka Aircraft has some really nice older short kits at a really attractive price. You supply the sheets and sticks but everything else is laser cut by Eureka. And most of the kits offer your choice of built up wings or sheet covered foam wings. It's worth a look.

RE: Chinese airplanes!! WTF????
Blue Jay Models has most of the old Bridi designs cut and the prices haven't gone up a lot from what Joe was charging.

What i meant by kit is more like a plane of recent design in kit form.

Plans, I have the plans for an 80 inch Zlin and a few others. Plenty of plans for the IMAC type of plans and tons of scale planes.

ORIGINAL: ktmfrank Sbach 342.Mxs.ultimate..yak's to name A few and it is a well know fact that kit manufacturers do not stock kits that do not sell. it just does not make any sense <br type="_moz" /> |
RE: Chinese airplanes!! WTF????
I totaly agree with you ! But building and flying something that you build is quite rewardind.
