Odorless thin CA vs regular thin CA setup time
 

I ran out of regular thin CA so started using a new bottle of oderless CA. I notice immediately that the odorless type takes a few seconds to penetrate the wood and form the bond . Is this normal ? Does odorless thin CA take more time to set than their regular counterparts? Just wanted to know that its normal instead of a bad batch. Tks

I think it's normal. One of the tradeoffs.

The odorless thin works the most like normal CA. The thicker are very much slower than the normal stuff. However if you are allergic the odorless seems to not cause any problems. I prefer white glues which are super slow, however do use the odorless when I want something nailed fairly quick. You can make some pretty quick building by using the white glue here and CA there ;)

It's kind of the same way with the odorless plastic model glues. They work but they work more slowly than the regular type does. I think it has to do with the solvents being changed out for less aggressive types. Since I've never used the odorless CA, I can't say whether that is the case or not. I do know that is the case with the plastic glues

Not about orderless but is about thin CA becoming thicker as it ages. Is there any way of thinning without effecting it's performance?

I believe there is no way to actually thin CA as it ages and that the different packaged viscositys is just product further along the ageing process.
