pull-pull rudder cables

I'm not a beginner, but asked this in beginners forum and got little interest. I have a Global Freestyle that requires a pull-pull cable on the rudder. The cables that came with the ARF got frayed and I couldn't use them. The only thing they had at the LHS was nylon. Is nylon inferior to cable? Also, the nylon always seemed to have slack, will this be the case with cable as well and is there a certain way you need to hook them up to make them work the best? Thanks in advance!

You either want to use kevlar or Dubro makes a pull pull kit with a coated wire. I used them in my Dave Patrick 40 Ultimate bipe.

I always use braided nylon coated steel fishing line, works great and is inexpensive. Get the proper sized ferules at the same place to make fail proof crimped connection.

There shouldn't be ANY slack in the cables when at neutral. There might be some slack in the non-pull cable after the servo moves away from neutral if the geometry of the setup is a little off, this is normal. As the others stated, use Kevlar or nylon coated steel.

If you know any U/Control pilots, ask them if they have any old braided control lines. They make great pull-pull cables for up to about 90 size planes.

Thanks a lot, I'll get that stuff in my plane ASAP. The coated kevlar sounds like the best bet. I appreciate the replies. I wanted to fly tomorrow, but I'm gonna have to wait until Sunday.
