It was made by an outfit called Fults Tooling. Near as I can tell they're no longer in business. Is there a specific reason you want the dual coil?

I do a lot of training with this plane and it's time to replace the nose gear and I just thought the dual would be better.
Thanks Dan

Yes, the Fults nose gear are no longer available. They are hard to find, but every now and then one comes up on Ebay auction. Be prepared to bid strong for one, as they sell at high prices.

This is swap meet season. That is where I would look. Ask all your friends to keep their eyes out for one.

I never could see the big picture of using a double spring set up . Every nose gear I've ever seen broken / bent happened just ABOVE the spring on the single shaft ( even on the Fault's ) . The double spring will help a bit on " nose SLAMS " I guess but you cure that by not landing on the nose wheel - FLAIR . I know you said it's for a trainer but they still need to learn to flair . Also I believe it would be a lot cheaper to just replace the regular system 2 or 3 times . Chances are the damage to the fire wall wouldn't be much different that way . Just my opinion . Red

I've never used a dual coil but I too have seen a few broken just above the coils.

What I do is bend my own. Spent the money some years ago for a quality coil bender and never looked back. I also drill out the nylon motor mounts to do double duty as nose gear blocks.

The dual struts guarantee that the gear won't lean over to one side when you have a hard landing on the nose wheel. With the now "typical" single strut sprung nosewheel gear, when a plane hits the nose gear hard on a bad approach, the nose gear will "give", or bend over toward the side without the strut and the plane can nose over. I can remember this happening on my first trainer back in the early 70s. The kit manufacturers would never spend the extra cost to include the better two strut nose gear; it always had to be an upgrade made by the owner.
