Best way to strip monokote

I would like to remove the monokote off a plane and glass it. What's the best way to strip it without blasting it with a hot air gun and risk twisting the wood?

If its put on well its a pain in the you know what. Peel and light application of heat. The longer its been on the more of a pain it will be.

Heat will not destroy a balsa structure unless you are very heavy handed.

Agreed, just use some medium heat and it will pull off easier and not leave as much glue residue behind, what ever is left can be removed with the packing tape method and then sanded to prep for glass

+1 on the packing tape method. The other thing is you don't have to get every last bit of monocote residue off the plane. Getting the plastic layer off is the important part. If the monocote adhesive is soaked into the wood far enough that it won't come out without removing wood just glass over it. If it is a dark color you may need a bit more primer on top of the glass. I've seem people drive themselves crazy trying to get the last bit of monocote adhesive off a plane for very little reward.

I used solvent to get those hard to remove remains of the adhesive off the wood.
