Density of building materials

Hi all,

I'm trying to design a plane in CAD.
To be able to control the mass budget I would like to assign the material densities to the different materials I'm using.
Ply 700 kg/m^3 - 44 lb/ft^3
Lite ply (pappel?) 406 kg/m^3 - 25 lb/ft^3
Balsa 206 kg/m^3 - 13 lb/ft^3

This is based on information I found on the web.

Are these realistic values that can be used to predict the fuselage's mass?

Thanks,

Leo

Have you built and flown R/C controlled planes before?

1: Birch plywood for firewalls and landing gear plates.

2: Bass wood plywood for things like motor boxes, tail gear plates, things like that.

3: Medium density density balsa sticks and sheeting.

4: Don’t overbuild!

Bob
