Fuel Problems in Plane
 

I have a Tucano T27 with a Thunder Tiger 46Pro. The stress is when I start it up and apply full throttle with the plane level it works fine, when I lift its nose kill the power and again apply full throttle it chokes and dies on me. The only way I can keep it from dying is opening the low needle setting but when the planes returns to level with a low needle wide open it almost chokes. I am almost out of ideas. Any ideas ?? I have changed all the fuel links, and opened the tank a few million times but it remains the same. While I'm at it, my fuel tank is not totally square, it has a small container to one side which I do´'t really know which way it should face, forward facing the engine or backward facing the tail, and if its up or down aswell.

I would say the tank is too far from the engine or is not at the proper height. Make sure the center of the tank is at the center of the spray bar in the carb. Also make sure that the tank is as clost the the engine (with short fuel lines) as possible.

Could you send a photo of the installation? You may have a clunk problem as well. To far back. Is tha clunk at least a quarter of an inch from the rear of the tank when in the tank is held in the vertical position? [&:]

How does the engine act after extended idle when sitting level? Is the transition to immediate full throttle smooth? Sounds like it may just be a combination of the low and high needles not being set correctly. As far as the tank goes, I'm not sure I understand what you are describing. The best I can offer on this is that the neck of the fuel tank (where the lines come out) has to be forward.

I have a 25 pro I bought for combat and went through the same greef you are. To make a long story short i found that a FP or LA .25 carb would fit in the crank case and once the test carb was inplace the engine ran much better. My carb has an airleak in it somewhere, you may have the same problem. I learned that the ten bucks I saved on the engine cost me plenty of flying time and $30.00 for a good carb., next time I buy OS or Super Tigre.
