Oil or Oil less compressor for painting?

What type of compressor is best for painting, an oil or oil less? I recently got a 2 gallon 1.5 hp craftsman compressor and it is not an oil less type. Will this suffice for painting and some air tools? I have done a search on this and can't seem to get an answer, hence this post. Thanks for any in advance,

Jeff

It does not make to much difference what kind as long as you use a filter in line with the air supply! This stops contaminates from getting into finish. Spelling who cares.

Jeff, check out this thread:

You may not need a water trap where you live. I live 30 miles away from you (in Lincoln) and I have never used one (see the thread for explanation). Just be sure you DO NOT use an in-line oiler.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will stick with the compressor I have and make sure I have a filter on it. My concern was that compressor with oil will end up in the lines and eventually in the spray gun causing 'fish eye' finish. I have read on this forum that the oil less compressors are a lot more noisy and do not last as long.
