Digital tachometer Lighting Need Help

I would like to be able to use my digital tachometer in my building. If I use florescent light or regular incandescent lighting the tech read the light frequency usually 3600. Is there some form of indoor light that will work well?
Thanks

RE: Digital tachometer Lighting Need Help

Most digital tachs read light pulses/time=frequency=RPM
They will all react to the strongest pulsed source.
If you have flourecent lights, they will read 3600 in the US
You need a steady state light for the prop to interrupt, like the sun.
I haven't tried them indoors but you may try one of those very bright LED's flashlights
The light source is continuous and might trigger your tach properly.

Any good strong REGULAR flashlight will work. Not sure on the LED flashlight because I think the circuit used to drive them pulses the LED.

Did this years ago for a down and dirty dyno for rc car motors. Worked pretty good.
