Duel fuel tanks for gasser

How would I hook up the plumbing on a duel fuel tank for a gasser? G.

I believe Minnflier did a diagram a little while ago. But I'll take a shot with words. Just do up both tanks normally. Attatch the vent line to one tank. Then take the klunk line to the vent of the second tank. Attatch the second tank's klunk to the carburetor. That should do it.

Sounds simple enough. Thank You. Regards G.

RE: Duel fuel tanks for gasser

G,

I run it slightly differently. My main tank feeds the engine carb. This tank is set up with a three line system in that it has a second clunk for fill and drain. The main's second clunk is connected to the clunk of the auxiliary tank. The aux tank is mounted a little higher for some gravity assistance. The aux tank has only vent and clunk lines. I fill both tanks and then assure that the line between the two tanks (clunk to clunk) has all the air purged out then I plug the vent on the main tank.

Now, as the carb (gasser with pump carb) draws fuel from the main tank, the syphon line between the tanks will keep the main tank filled until the aux tank is drained, then the main tank will drain normally. For this to work, the line between the tanks has to be absolutely without leaks. Any air gets into this line and the syphon is broken, ending the draw from the aux tank. Don't ask me how I know.

Have fun!

Bedford, Won't ask you how you found out. Thanks for another solution. Regards G.

There is really no difference between the two except that the first tank is a 3 line instead of a two line setup.
