Mounting servos

I'm new at this, when mounting the servos (futaba) do you place the rubber pieces on top and bottom of the servo leg or the top only.

Top and bottom - don't forget to use the metal grommets that also come with the servo. They install from the bottom through the rubber pieces. When you tighten the screws, only tighten a slight bit past the point where the screw just makes contact with the rubber - you want to make sure that the rubber pieces do their job and that is shock/vibration isolation.

and you'll notice the rubber "post" is a bit off center so the outside edge of the rubber is flush with the outside of the ears. Really only goes on "properly" one way although it will fit either way.

There are three types of rubber grommets, some like a doughnut with a slot all around it, some square with a slot all around it and some that require two pieces, one on top of the ears and one below. Just a simple trial should show you which way to instal them. Do keep the broad end of the metal eyelet that is inserted into the final assembly with the rounded shoulder against the mount. This prevents the screw from forcing the sharp edge of the eyelet into the mount and destroying the shock absorbing ability which will happen if you instal them with the sharp side against the mount.
