What fuel should I use?
I have a Saito 72 and am a little confused about which fuel to use. I use Byron 15% with a 20% synth/castor blend for my OS46FX right now. Is this also a good fuel to use for my Saito?

RE: What fuel should I use?
While this fuel will work and work well, I prefer a full synthetic oil/fuel combination.

Cool Power works well. I also like Cool Power 30% Heli-mix and I am currently using Wildcat (all-synthetic) 30% Heli-mix. The Heli-mix just has a higher oil content. |

Another vote for full synthetic. While some may like a castor blend, I feel it tends to gum up the valves and pushrods in a 4-stroke. I also like Cool Power, 15% works very well in my 4-strokes. The biggest key is to run them on the rich side, a lean running 4-stroke won't stay happy for long.

RE: What fuel should I use?
If you haven't run it yet, break it in according to the Saito instructions. I have the .72 and a couple of .91s and all 3 run great. I ran 2 gallons of Omega 10% castor blend through each, a half gallon on the bench by their instructions and the rest in the air. Then I switched to 20% Cool Power heli blend. The Saitos seem to like more nitro and take a longer time to break in than OS or Magnum 4-strokes.
If you start off with synthetic, the ring has a harder time seating. You want the initial wear so the ring will seat-fit smoothly with the cylinder. After it seats well, the compression seal will increase. |
RE: What fuel should I use?
I use Power Master YS 20/20 in all of my Saito's and most of my 2 strokes.
