How to tint a canopy ?

Hi,
How can I tint (color) a clear plastic canopy?

Get some RIT dye at the local grocery store. Disolve it in very warm (But not Hot) water, and emerse the canopy in it. The longer it sits, and the warmer the water, the darker the color.

Once it reached the desired shade, just rinse it off with water.

I have also used the RIT dye with great success. Years ago I put some RIT dye in a deep frying pan to dye the top portion of a canopy and I did not thorougly rinse the pan after I finished. Result: some blue pork chops for dinner.

I just did this. Bought a cheap plastic bowl used black rit dye, brought water to a boil mixed dye then took a meat thermometer and set it in the dye until the temp came down to just under 150* then dipped parts in for about 1.5 to 2 minutes. Turned out great. Be careful not to grab the parts with your fingers until dry as the prints will show up. Also clean thoroughly with soap and water and denatured alcohol prior to dyeing. Randy
