how long does envelope mail take to get from one plane to another place on the other coast of the united states? drop mail via stamp anyone know?

Sent a set of plans to Canada. USPS clerk asked if I wanted air mail. Price difference was small but delivery time was still 4 to 6 days. Raised my eyebrows a bit so I asked why so long. His reply was "Any place but Canada will be faster". He was right. Sent some plans to Australia. Though a bit more expensive the arrival time was about the same. He stated that surface mail would be almost two weeks to Canada. Letters across the States usually arrive in 2 days, 3 at most. Except for short routes, city to city, all USPS mail goes by air so there is no need to pay extra for air mail. The rates keep going up and the service keeps declining. It's UPS or FedEx for me. Greyhound for packages.

you guys are lucky you don't live in u.k.,i sent a letter once that took ten days to go 60 miles! it's that sort of thing that's sending this country down the pan!

I have had mail take 7 to 10 days going across the country. I would not get too antsy after 3 days. I am waiting for a check right now that has been 7.

Had one take 6 months and it was all torn up when it got here. Got stuck in a machine. Fun!
