Reciever Antenna Wire

Does anyone know a source for the super flexible reciever antenna wire that we all use? I believe it is 24 or 26 AWG. I need to do some replacing.

I have not had to replace any myself but, I do remember reading that you can order them through your local Hobby Store.
Hope it helps :)

Antenna Wire source

A good electric supply house will have 19 or 24 strand, 24 gauge PVC insulated, bare copper wire. Also Radio Shack is a good source. Just remember to cut to the exact length as the original.

I have done a couple of replacments, but for what it is worth, send it to a good repair shop and have it done. They will range check the receiver for you. Better to spend a couple of dollars now then rebuild later.

You can buy replacements at http://www.cermark.com . Also check the LHs, I bought a couple of spares for a buck each.

Thank-you all for your replies. The normal hookup wire found at most electronic suppliers is not the real flexible stuff found on R/C recievers. It stresses too much when it is out in the breeze behind an airplane and breaks. Is the 19 strand the flexible wire I am looking for? I searched the Cermak site but did not see the replacement antenna wire. Also, I am an electronic technician, so doing repairs like this is no problem, I just can't find the wire I'm looking for.

The wire you want is commercial equivalent to jumper wire. In the military it is Mil-W-16878 type 1 which is a PVC based wire. What makes it so flexible is the stranding. Use 19 strand or higher. Again a good electrical supply house should have it. Also telephone jumper wire will work as long as it is stranded.

Wire companies like Judd Wire, Raychem, Brand-Rex make it for commercial and military applications.

Try Digikey or Mouser. They have more wire and cable than you'd know what to do with. :)
