Multi Task from Single RX Channel

Is it possible to run two funtions off of single RX channel; I have two smoke pumps on a Crop duster that pumps water to spray arms; these are connected with a Y-Harness to the Landing Gear Channel; the pumps have their own power source; I want to use landing lites that will come on when the Spraying commences much like the Full scale Crop dusters do; the landing lites will also have their own power source, but will need power from the RX to activate a servo to turn on the lites, whereby the smoke pumps just use the signal from the RX to turn them on, no servo used. Thanks

Well, never done this particular thing before, but have played around quite a bit with remote glow drivers and other switched items which work off the RX signal. I would think if you had a RC controlled switch for lights, you could just Y it with the pump on the same channel just like you woudl with two servos. Then you adjust the lights to come on the same time as the pump and you are good to go.

To get a better feel for how something like this works, take a look at the [link=http://www.cliftech.com/html/optoglo.html]Optoglo II[/link]. Going through the documentation on this will help you understand how the system (smoke or lights) can be made to work off the RX signal and how the adjustment works. If you get really ambitious, you can build an Optoglo yourself and use it as your light switch. After a few failed attempts with substitute parts, I finally got one to work by ordering the exact components as listed.

I have a friend here that uses his flaps knob to activate the remote starter on his 1/4 scale Fly Baby. He uses 'lobes' on a wire to activate certain functions with the servo throw. Turn the knob a little, and it activates the starter motor, a little more, and it activates the battery to the spark, a little more, and it activates the bendix to turn over the engine.

No reason I can think of that you couldn't simply add a "Y" to your "Y" and run a servo for the light switch.
