Not equal elevator movement
 

Can someone help me? My question is, I have a Vector Flight 540 that I am building it has a split elevator. I have it ready to go, I am using 2 servos on the elevator, but when I give it up it moves freely. The problem is in the down position I hardly get any movement out of the the servos. They move equaly in both direction but there is a very noticable difference in the throws from up to down.

Any suggestions?

Remove the servo arms, reset the model memory, install the servo arms, then mix the servos together, is it then still off?

Is the transmitter allowing 100% movement of the servos ? (Is a setting off in the programming )

Have you tried disconnecting one servo from the Y connection and trying it ?

Have you tried a different Y connection ?

Have you tried replacing the servos with different servos ? The ones you have may be bad.

Is the linkage adjusted properly in relation to the servo's centering ? (Do you turn the transmitter and receiver on, then adjust the linkage )

If the servos have equal movement with the linkage removed, check the elevator halfs for binding.

Campy and Geistware covered most of the possibilities. My guess would be that you don't have the servo arms centered on the servo. Take the arms off, center the servos, and reinstall the arms. When you center the servos make sure all the possibilities are centered. This means that you travel is centered, sub-trims are centered, End Point Adjustments are set to 100%, trims are centered, exponentials are removed, and any mixes applied to that channel are removed.

I have changed out the servos and the arms are centered. I will try the Y cable. The transmitter is set at 100%. Do you think that the pushrod is flexing inside the tubes?

it's possible. If the tube is fairly well secured inside of the fuselage then there shouldn't be too much flex. If you don't have an inspection mirror get one, it can be invaluable in this case. You can get them at an auto parts store or a hardware store. Looks like the mirror your dentist uses and is on a telescoping rod. open up the fuselage (take the wing off) and use the mirror to watch the pushrod tubes while you move the elevator. If there is any flex in them you will see the movement with the mirror.

mechanicaly off, Are the servo horns and the control hors 90 degrees @ nutural position. If not then your doing to get more throw one wqay than the other

2 your radio. Mentioned before reset the radio taking all the mixing funtions out reset the servo linkage and remix it.
Are the ATV setting set to 0, is the mix set for 100% or 50/50

Yes my horns are at 90. I am using HITEC BB servos. I will try clearing out the memory on my transmitter.
