Nose Wheel Steering Setup

What kind of range of motion should I get from a nose wheel? I can get it to deflect about 25 degrees left and right. That seems like plenty for tracking the runway center line, but will that be enough to taxi around? Its a tricycle gear, 40 size trainer.

it takes very little deflection to steer the plane around. If you have a total arc of 25 degrees from full left to full right, that is probably enough.

Do not exceed 10 degrees or you will have trouble when trying to taxi, You can get by nicely with about 5 degrees.

That's an awful lot of travel. I'd recommend you cut that in half for the first flights. It doesn't take much nose wheel deflection to taxi around.
